Looking for a website dev

Posted by Bernie - November 1st, 2024

Hello, it’s been a long time but I’m trying to stop neglecting my Newgrounds page now that I’ve had more time to focus on art. I’m finally starting to put together comics for my SOCIAL SMOKERS characters and while I think this site is great as I start making issues oriented toward print/PDF formats I’m looking for help or at least suggestions to setting up a simple comic site. I’m willing to pay someone for helping me get it all set up, but I’m looking for something easy to manage without a lot of maintenance. I have some concepts (not sure about including them here) but there’s a specific old school look I’d like rather than the modern look and bloat of sites like Wix/Squarespace. Not sure how many will see this but figure this would be a good place to look first

i know enough web development and maintenance of servers to be dangerous. you could either do wordpress or some of the sites you suggested and try to find a nice theme or make one yourself. if you think those are overkill (or too bloated) and you'd rather have a static website that you can host yourself, i'd recommend hugo (https://gohugo.io/). you can either find a theme there or make one yourself.

posts, or comics, would be in separate files in a folder structure. then the engine just exports it together with configuration and themes into a website that you just host yourself or upload to some 3rd party server hosting solution. if you want to update the site, you just re-export it and upload the site files again. it's dumb, easy, and safe as it is literally just html+css files.

i can help you out if you want to know more!!! i know how to make themes and can get around hugo, and handling servers is dead easy for me if you want to host it yourself.
